Dogs have always been referred to as “Man’s best Friend”; but we all know that us woMAN also love our dogs. So; today we are going to call them Man’s (WoMan’s) Best Friend. Dogs and really animals of all types have become so much a part of our lives that they become Family and when we are not with them, we miss them (sometimes more than our “blood” family). There are many breeds of dogs that it is hard to choose which ones will fit into the Family the best. So, here is some information that might help you make your decision easier.

Firstly: A German Shepherd is considered extremely intelligent; loyal; gentle protector and great companions AND… easy to train. That is why police officers use them and they become man’s best and most loyal friend. Retired officers and their canine partners continue to care for and live with each other as they will always be apart of family. German shepherds are the ideal breed for an active household and they make a good choice for families with children when trained properly.
Secondly: This may be hard to believe since Doberman Pinschers have a reputation of being aggressive/intimidating when you are “the stranger”. That is because one of the most common guard & police dogs used, giving them that kind of reputation. A Doberman is really a family dog that is considered extremely loyal to his family. When a Doberman Pinscher is raised with the family and children of the family; they are very affectionate and sweet animals. AND… He is their ultimate protector. They are also one of the best guard dogs for your home.
Thirdly: Collie dog is a very social animal, AND… is very devoted to the family. If you ever saw the old TV show “Lassie” well Lassie was a Collie Breed dog. People fell in love with Man’s & WoMan’s Best Friend the Collie. They are a sensitive breed that seems to have a special connection to humans and their feelings. They are a breed that needs and loves to be with the family that they are with. Excellent for the young and old as a companion.
Fourthly: The Labrador Retriever is for a lot of families; one of the best house dogs. They are outgoing, gentle and friendly to be around kids. AND… probably easier to train then. That makes them one of the most popular breed of dogs of Americans. I have friends/family that have had nothing but labs for a house pet and have absolutely loved them.
Last but not Least: The Beagle. The National Beagle Club of America says that the Beagle is an excellent companion for the family. Beagles are also considered low maintenance; affectionate, independent and their temperament makes them the ideal pet for many families.
